During the mid-term break, my family and I travelled to Bangkok, Thailand. On the first night, we enjoyed an authentic Thai meal at the restaurant 'Apinara'. We started off with a dish called 'Goong Chae Nam Pla', which is marinated raw white prawns served with garlic and spicy fish sauce to enhance the taste. Then, we had a Tom Yum Goong soup, which is a spicy soup with different herbs and shrimp to create a rich fresh spicy seafood soup. The next dish is the Spicy Squid and Shrimp Salad (Phla Pla Muek), which contains squid, shrimp, chilli, coriander, cellophane noodles and onions. We also ordered grill chicken, with bean sprout salad, sticky rice, and spicy sauce. We had another soup, which is called the 'Tom Kha Gai', which is a chicken galangal soup or chicken coconut soup. It is a hot and sour soup, and it always contains coconut milk and chicken and other herbs. It is also served in Lao cuisine. Thai fish cakes (Tod Man Pla) are also a signature dish when it comes to a traditional Thai cuisine. It is served with a sweet chilli sauce. Fried rice is also important in a Thai meal, since rice is an important food when it comes to Southeast Asian meals. The fried rice contained salty fish, chilli, egg and vegetables.
